A little sooner than I thought the Sound studio application got unlocked. The reason that the app was unlocked quicker than I thought was that Macupdate has brought down the unlock levels. Just a few days after the release of version 1.33 version 1.34 pops up. Again no changlog (couldn’t find it). Go get it at nullriver software. Keep streaming all your movies / pictures / etc. to your playstation 3

Well, as a new mac owner I have bought this bundle yesterday. I must say it has some really handy apps. Below you can see the list of apps provided. There is a small downside to this list…… Some apps are locked…

Update Medialink to 1.33 Upnp –> PS3
Today this pop-up showed up on my screen:
What the update does is not clear to me, but there must be improvements or bug-fixes.
I hope that it includes some re-encoding option although I haven’t found these option in the systempreferences settings.
However just download the update it’s a nice and small download:
Don’t forget to start your server, I noticed that after the installed it’s not started automaticly again….
BTW I use medialink to stream video to my PS3 but offcourse it works with all kinds of different Upnp compatible devices…….

Playing video on the Mac
When trying to play some movies on my Mac I noticed that several codecs are not part of OS X or quicktime at least. One way to fix this is to install VLC player.
As a former user of the Microsoft platform this was my first move. I must say it works similar as on a windows based machine (that means perfect). However I forgot / did not change the filetype association for some movie files. So it happened several times that quicktime was started instead of VLC (quicktime did not play the movie because it misses the codecs). I ran into Perian “The Swiss armyknife for Quicktime” I installed it and a lot of codecs were added to the system. Now it seems that quicktime is able to play most(maybe all) of my movies!!!! Really need to have software for all movie watching Mac owners! Here is the link to the Perians Homepage.
PS3 Hacked? Possible exploit reported
It seems that Sony might need to update their firmware earlier than expedted. ps3hacks reports that there is an exploit that makes it possible to bypass the age verification system. This might make it possible to (in the end) create a loader to be able to run homebrew software.

Itunes Update
Today all Itunes user received an update I’m pretty happy with it. It seems to work even better with sorting music and you can now scroll full screen thrue your music collection. Besides that some security flaws have been fixed. For all of you that use Itunes… Get the update now. For those who don’t have it ….poor u. Apple could loose the Quicktime though…
Another Vista Hack
Today another hack of the new Microsoft OS was published. It was already known that the OEM-supplier codes could be used via a bios hack. Today keznews published a complete hack and reading the comments it seems to work. I have not tried it for myself so let me know if it works for you…… The hack seems to activate Vista with an approved licence and WGA (Windows Genuine Advantage) is set offside. This will enable you to download all the patches or so called “service packs”. It is unsure at this moment if Microsoft can do anything about this “Hack”. Somehow I cannot beleive that a multi-million company that invested that much into security produce a fairly easy to hack OS……

Vista bruteforce hack a hoax?
It seems that the bruteforce hack that was published yesterday was a Hoax, at least thats what the author says………. Although I didn’t try for myself I do think a bruteforce hack will work. Anyone of you tried and have a positive result? The publisher of the software might have gotten scarred ? Share your thought
Wii – Exite Truck
I bought Exite Truck today for my Wii. I must say that I was amazed how good the graphics look. Probably not what a PS3 can show but good enough. It’s a racing game and I hope there will be many more for the Wii. The Trucks are controlled by tilting the controller up or down. In the beginning it’s a little weird, but once you are used to it it works great. I didn’t think the response of the controller would be that good. It’s a fun game and I think it’s best to play with friends like most Wii games… However the single player modes seem ok also. I do think that single player mode is a little to easy although im not that far yet. For sure it’s one of the best games for the Wii at the moment!

Vista – choose your hack…………
I was really surprised to see all the hack news today regarding Microsoft’s Vista.
Offcourse there where already many items written why not to start using Vista, but now it seems the few that bought Vista are doing nothing else than trying to hack the OS. If you feel lucky you might want to try to brute force the yourself towards a key…..Another hack reported today is to activate Vista via a bios-flash although this seems risky and a lot of work, someone created a bootable cd/usbstick that creates a bootpartition and emulates the hacked bios so basicly no risk is taken and the proces is much easier. This hack uses the oem supplier keys to activite Vista permanently without any interaction with Microsoft.
I cannot see why anyone would like to try since you’ll need to buy a new computer first and then find out that it doesn’t run your programs a well as your previous OS. This might be the reason why Apple sold twice as many Macs

Adobe Photoshop online within 6 months
Good news, Photoshop will be available online within 3 to 6 months. I wonder though how it will work with drawings of a few megs, but the initiative is very good.

Nice tool to remove DRM from WMA files
Finally I found a tool to remove the DRM from my WMA-files. Via my internet provider I can download a couple of songs each month. The bad thing is that I could not play these songs on my Ipod since files with DRM can’t be played on a Ipod. Now I can remove the DRM with this tool and convert it to the AAC format or just play the WMA from my Ipod . One remark, you need to have the right to play the file, if you don’t have the license the tool don’t work

Mac OS X on PC?
I’ve been trying to get my PC to run Mac OS X for several days now. Today I decided to quit since I cannot get it any further than installing the OS….. It seems to boot for a while but then hangs.. Probably I have some incompatible hardware….. I really wanted it to work since it seems to be much better the the Micro$oft OS I’m currently using. Read this document and see why you don’t need Vista or XP…. For more information about running Mac OS X on your pc start your adventure here! Hopefully you’ll get it to work, let me know.
